1800s Fake Medium Theatre…another Breadcrumb

My love and I watched an episode of that Netflix show titled ‘Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities’ and the episode was about the Witch House. So do expect some spoilers of the episode in this entry. We’re enjoying the show, some episodes were good, some were lackluster, but tonight’s viewing was just another series in the set of my recent Breadcrumbs.

Right off the bat…the main character loses his twin sister when he was a boy. He sees her spirit get dragged away into the forest which begins his long journey to find answers. Fast forward to the main time period of the episode (1800s) and the boy is now a man attending a seance.

Oh lord. Of course the seance was a total act. The medium was named Madame Levine and it was just an entire act of tricks.

Here we go again. Another presentation of PSI through the lens of the fakes, tricksters, and con-artists.

What in the world? Our recent watching of the 90s infomercials featuring the bullshit psychic networks and now we were watching the awful 1800s mockery of mediumship via a complete fraud.

I sat with myself for a bit and realized what this Breadcrumb series was showing me. It was showing me the very real nature of our world and the very real acts of con-artists. It just Is. That’s what it is…this field is compounded with fake after fake after skeptic after cynic after everything that I hate.

…and yet I still LOVE PSI.

We see the main character grew up to work for a spiritualist society. The organization so concerned about the public’s opinion of them. So much so that the president discounts the only real psychic that walked into the office because she was different than everyone else. This woman painted and her visions were captured in paint on a canvas.

The real Intuitive did not “look the part” so she was cast away even though she was the only one of any talent. So what if she came across a bit odd? Aren’t all geniuses marching to the beat of their own drum?

This episode was just another glimpse into the field in which I am a part of. Obviously through a fictitious lens, but the meaning is still present.

Politics. Charades. Opinions. Society.

It’s just so funny that this episode and that infomercial episode came into my life after my practice’s recent evolution. To show me the filth out in the world and to remind me to just focus on me, my work, my path, and my clients.

I don’t know how people go on the public stage in our society to do this work…the authentic practitioners, not the filth. I for one am not built for public stage work! I accept this about myself. I’m too sensitive even though I’ve come a long way from my past when I would get too emotionally bruised.

The real Intuitive in the episode - the witch - she and I have a lot in common and she reminded me to keep doing what I’m doing and to avoid all the societies, politics, main-stage, and dogmatic religions (and definitely the new age cult crowds).

For my love of PSI and this work…I shall keep going!
