6 Months Off Social Media

Oh Happy Day! (Cue Sister Act 2 Soundtrack) 6 months off of social media and what a glorious strategy to positively increase my well-being, self-worth, and calming of the Mind Tool.

January 2024 to August 2024 I was also off social media. Then I felt like trying it out again. I was under the illusion that it was "for my business". Now I really did very much enjoy creating shorts using my little doodles to explain PSYCHISM and PSI Mechanics, but that enthusiasm quickly fell away. I was right back into the endless scrolling and watching the algorithm feed me all that which I would uselessly consume in a sea of meaninglessness.

It was around November/December of 2024 when I was like "I'm getting the f away from all this!" Deleted. Done. No going back! Hurray!

My social media usage was limited to just Instagram. I didn't care for Twitter nor have I ever touched TikTok. Oh god, no TikTok! Can I acknowledge the Tool of social media? Sure. But that's why websites are a thing and newsletters.

Escaping the Scrolling Wheel of Death and releasing my Mind Tool is more important than any social media post. Allowing my Energy System to be free of bombarding waves of influence coming off the screens.

And TBH...I don't really care to check friends and family on social media. I text or call them. I reach out to people who are still important in my life and I interact with them.

The fakeness of it all. The Marketing of it all. Selling this and selling that of it all. I was just bored of it and I don't have any person that "I Follow". I respect the work of people who I feel align with my interests, goals, perceptions, and what not...but I don't put them on a pedastal or run to see what their current perspective and opinions are regarding XYZ.

My life is so much less noisy. My life is so much more quieter! I already had those reaped those benefits in 2024 for 8 months so these last 6 months were just a reminder of how much better my life is off of social media.

Now! Let me tell you. I was 14 in 2005 when I got my first social media account...Myspace. I've been there since the beginning. But! I don't want to be on the internet more than I have to. I actually toy with the idea of discontinuing my website, but the Tool of the website is too important to stop using (for now lololol).

YouTube. The App. Just as bad as the Instagram app. Shorts are just like Reels. Just mildly interesting content, but such a waste of time to browse especially to use them as a means for entertainment rather than much more interesting and productive hobbies. If I want to look up something on YouTube then I'll just go to the browser. Using the browser on my phone/computer is so much better than having the app.

I love technology. I really do! So? To counteract the negatives of technology, I learned to discontinue the use of all that which drains me and greatly interferes with my well-being.

Social media is also especially saturated and even more fake than ever before. You can literally just buy followers, use AI for content, work the algorithm, and then present an illusion of "success".

Thankfully, my currency and values are not determined by clicks, likes, and followers.

Business wise...social media never helped me. What a treat it has been to also no longer be on YouTube (publicly). PSYCHISM and the "Psychic Industry" is just disgusting all over the internet which I've written about in many other entries. Now! If I had a...let's say restaurant...that'd be different. But for my practice? No thanks.

6 months off of social media and I never intend to return!
