Thursday morning, last day of Spring 2025, and I'm inspired to write this entry regarding the commitment to Change. To change what? Well, the principals would apply to any area of our lives that we wish to Change and the principals are all about self-responsibility, honesty to self, modifying small habits, and a desire to examine the Psychic Wiring aka Subconscious patterns which influence our Conscious Thought-Emotion-Action Loops.
Throughout my almost 34 years walking this world as Jake James Vanek...I've been through many transformations! Changes applied to various aspects of my life. To fat/weight loss and my health journey. To constructing a healthy self-esteem equipped with healthy boundaries. To becoming "accidentally" sober. To changing how I Respond to life and experiences. To acknowledging my psychic and mediumistic skills, developing them, and then sharing them with those who wish for me to provide my services. To even learning the piano!
All of these Changes were actually connected in a Web with the threads tying them together being constructed by Perception, Desire, and Knowledge.
The Principals of Change are largely comprised of Commitment.
Back in 2005/2006 when I first went on my weight loss journey, that Change was about Desire. Intrinsic Motivation. I was sick and tired and angry and frustrated with being an obese teenager. I wanted to change. I had some inner-fire guiding me from within to make the Conscious choices to reach out to those who could help me and then begin the daily restructuring of my decisions so I could create a new life.
Back in 2013...when I graduated college and found my reflection in a mirror as a young adult who was obese once again...I had that inner-fire return to my Conscious mind so I then followed my Desire to change and then Commit to that process.
Late 2017, I had that inner-fire make me acknowledge my psychic skills which led me down a path to finally honor them, discover my mediumistic talents, and then decide to follow the Breadcrumbs so I could share them with people since...they are no use to me in my own personal life compared to the usefulness of reading for people.
All three of these examples were deeply entrenched in self-hatred patterns, lack of self-confidence and self-esteem, and in motivation. I had to, through a long journey, try to discover why I became who I currently was and then slowly peel back the layers to discern between the lies I told myself and what truths I was withholding from myself. An arduous process with some attempts to give up, but I worked on cultivating a relationship with myself in which I was cheering myself on rather than whispering hate to lead me back to destructive patterns.
I do not think we can change unless we accept radical self-responsibility and enact complete honesty to self. We can easily make up so many excuses. We can easily blame everyone and everything. We can easily allow procrastination to flourish.
When your Desires align with the Motivation from within and you even then acquire the Knowledge applied to whatever area you wish to change then you will make new Choices which build over time into large, transformative Changes.
Making those small Choices will inevitably lead you on the journey to examine your Psychic Wiring / Subconscious Patterns. It is almost like you unlock secrets of your Psyche. You may find yourself submerged in a memory from yesteryear with an awareness of how that experience translated into modifying your behavior, perception, and beliefs. It can be daunting. It will require your Courage to sit with the uncomfortable resurfacing of memories and then work to reframe the experiences so they can no longer influence your Conscious Thought-Emotion-Action Loops.
Deciding to share my psychic and mediumistic skills could not have happened until I constructed a healthy self-esteem and then eventually stronger healthy boundaries. I still struggle with some aspects of this work pertaining to the perceptions people have of this work, the blatant lies and myths and misinformation, and then the lame, infantile presentation of these skills throughout the internet. I'm slowly changing my reaction and responses to the outer world regarding actual PSYCHISM and I am seeing the transformation occur within me.
Desire + Intrinsic Motivation + Knowledge + New Choices = Change.
We are gifted with the internet in its healthy expression. We have so much knowledge available to us, but we must strengthen our discernment and research skills to find the treasures of Knowledge that is untainted and not manipulated by parties wishing to profit off of the tainted and manipulated presentation of "findings". Rather than going to a short-form video on social media...read a book. Read a study. Learn how to read studies and data and statistics.
Even becoming "accidentally" sober. This occurred from years of different choices. Acknowledging how I react to alcohol and cannabis. Acknowledging how they make me feel. Acquiring knowledge about these substances. Accepting the effects they had in my life and the choices I made under the influence. It just all worked in a cohesion of choices and desires where I never even think about consuming alcohol or cannabis nor do I have any desire.
To construct a healthy self-esteem is critical. This process can be done on your own, but I do recommend cognitive-behavioral therapy. A therapist can be a powerful, beneficial Tool in your life especially if you commit to the process and engage in the process.
It is the day-to-day choices. Not allowing yourself to be blinded by the barriers you create to make excuses as to why you can't make this new choice today. Radical self-responsibility. It is You and You have to make new choices which will naturally feel easier as you align your Desires with Intrinsic Motivation with Knowledge and then the Action will come even naturally to you.
How do you Perceive yourself? Why do you Perceive yourself as this or that? Can you acknowledge how your Perceptions are influencing your Thought and Emotional Patterns?
Commitment to Change and holding yourself accountable is the only thing you can do to Transform. Each day adds to one another and then you will see the Transformation over the course of days to weeks to months to a year. 2025 is already halfway over and the next 6 months could be a beautiful journey where you Strengthen yourself and summon the Courage to make new choices.
