A beautiful June Tuesday morning and I'm on my second read through of a book that I received on 5/7/21..."Food Over Medicine" by Pamela Popper & Glen Merzer.
I was eating some kidney beans (sprinkled with nutritional yeast and garlic powder with a drizzle of enchilada sauce) this morning for breakfast after I finished a banana. My eyes navigating the terrain of words and my mouth munching away at some delicious beans. I am just feeling all the good feels from a happy tummy to a passionate brain!
Today is Day 39 of OP HEALTHBOD. I'm officially down 7.4 pounds. I have only become more passionate and interested in plant-based eating! Way more than my first go around from 2017 to 2021 as a vegan. Then 2021 to 2025 was back to my omnivore days until 39 days ago.
I'm only experiencing positive effects from this OP HEALTHBOD change and the results are what keeps me motivated to continue along with absorbing more and more knowledge. My Healthy Logic Mind is lit up with excitement and my Psychic Art Mind is also receiving an "upgrade" of sorts.
I am a huge fam of Pam Popper. I remember listening to her back in 2017 when I first watched Forks Over Knives. My admiration for her only increased over the years! I enjoy her directedness, her desire to follow evidence, and her ability to synthesize information to deliver to people in ways that could be understood without sensationalism. My kind of person!
7.4 pounds over 39 days. A high fiber, starch-based diet with focusing on low-fat consumption. My microbiome in my gut are starting to balance out as more bacteria is growing to digest the much higher volume of plant material which means I'm less bloated and able to digest and excrete the plant matter much easier than when I first returned to this lifestyle. My morning walks about 5 times a week (on an incline on a treadmill at the gym) are something I look forward to and I find it just works best for me! I'm steadily increasing the incline and the speed and I am breaking a healthy sweat without feeling exhausted! Yes!
OP HEALTHBOD and my pretty much journey through life being sober have all been excellent additions and enhancements to my life. I haven't consumed any cannabis for 2 months since I just realized my evening puffs weren't satisfying me and the cannabis in our present-day society is just too damn strong! I don't want to be blasted off to another planet just from one puff. I really do not like that so I'd rather just refrain from consuming cannabis and to continue my alochol-free lifestyle that started over a year ago in April 2024.
Look...I do enjoy some oreos at night. Don't come at me! A few oreo cookies dipped in almond milk is just my treat and I'm fine with it! Not cooking with oils and just avoiding adding oils to my foods have been a gift sent from the heavens in terms of how easy it was to lose these 7.4 pounds without counting a single calorie! I'm still amazed at this! Weighing myself everyday shows me how much the number on the scale fluctuates due to many factors. When I eat a more salty dinner then I know the number on the scale on the following day will be higher than my average number. And you know what...I don't care!
I also enjoy eating a beyond burger or impossible burger or even meatless meatballs. However, these are not a part of my daily lifestyle or regular diet. I'm coming to a bbq with those patties and I'm going to enjoy them with some butter-free corn on the cob.
I don't feel restricted. I don't feel like I'm missing out. I also...I must say that I handle peer pressure very well. I do not succumb to peer pressure easily. I am my own person and I will not be around people who follow manipulative peer-pressure-tactics. No no no. Also, my work as a psychic medium really help me to establish a healthy self-esteem and construct healthy boundaries. I'm no push over!
I just am so interested in a whole foods, low-fat, high carbohydrate, plant-based lifestyle. I'm as interested in this as I am in PSI Mechanics!
An absolute treat! I highly recommend you pick up "Food Over Medicine" if you find yourself at the end of this blog entry. I enjoy the structure of the book, the delivery of the information, and just the directedness that is something that I find to be refreshing and straight to the point!
